Rainbow

As the sun set through the green leaves and the color of the earth rose into the sky.  The deepness of the blue sky began to set with the yellow, now orange sun, breaking way for the richness of the pinks and purples to make their way across the clouds.

I couldn't help but feel the weight of the day bear down on my mind.  The morning smell of the dark coffee. The rambunctious sound of traffic as I make my way to the small corridor of neutral florescent lights. The different tones of people pass by my day, make or break my mood if I so see fit.  The dull, hopefully not gray, lunch line of selected offerings.  The helpful reminder as I pick up the washed out red tray, to "Eat all the colors for a balanced meal."

The afternoon glows outside the window covered by off white blinds as the small fern struggles to keep me company and stay alive with the brown trim embracing the green within.

I walk in the evening, with all that has passed me through the day.  So flustered, moving, frantic, the movement, colors, feelings of all that passed.  So much in such a little time.  Yet in this quiet moment I look into the evening glow to see a rainbow try to lift itself from the earth and touch the sky only to make it's way back down.  And in that line, that wonderful line I realize that everything I know, everything I see is all in that line.  All the beauty I can handle all contained within one line.  Colors as far as my mind can see, as near as the colors my eyes can handle.  Everything is I know is within that little curve.

and in this peaceful moment

this moment that a rainbow finds its way to me

all I can think of is what's past that line, and how much in this world I can't see.
